The newly formed Red Line Home Guard Living History Group will make their debut appearance in May.

Their debut will be at Cholsey and Wallingford Railway’s military vehicle event on May 11-12.

The group will be dressing in period uniforms and showcasing an array of equipment historically used by the Home Guard during the Second World War.

A line-up of 26 military vehicles will also be set for display at Wallingford Station, spanning from the Second World War to post-war British Army vehicles and a US Humvee.

The collection will also feature some armoured vehicles.

All vehicles will be exhibited from 10am to 5pm over the two-day event.

The Cholsey and Wallingford Railway (CWR) will be operating a series of trains to cater to event-goers.

Departures from Wallingford are set for 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm, while trains will leave Cholsey at 11.30am, 1pm, and 2.30pm.

An additional service is scheduled from Cholsey to Wallingford Vehicle Rally and Parade on Sunday, May 12 at 9.40am.

The CWR is an all-volunteer-run heritage railway, primarily funded through membership fees, ticket sales, and catering income.

In 2022, the CWR was recognised at the Heritage Railway Awards, achieving the "Small Groups" award.

The CWR relies on grants, donations and fundraising to develop and enhance the facilities and attractions.
